Dear visitors of our website,

Our colleagues and the guests!

Welcome to the web pages of Vologda State Technical University known for its rich history.

The University history dates back to the decree “On establishing a general technical faculty of the North-Western Extra-Mural Polytechnic Institute in the city of Vologda” enacted by the RSFSR Minister for Higher and Secondary Professional Education on March 1, 1966. In October 1967 the faculty was reorganized into a branch of the North-Western Polytechnic Institute. Along with the faculty of part-time and correspondence learning, the faculty of full-time studies was set up and saw its first graduates in engineering in 1972.

Another important milestone in the history of our educational institution was a decree adopted by the USSR Council of Ministers in December 1973. According to the decree, Vologda branch of the North-Western Extra-Mural Polytechnic Institute was conferred a status of Vologda Polytechnic Institute of the RSFSR Ministry for Higher and Secondary Professional Education. Since then the Institute grew rapidly. According to the results of the state accreditation conducted in 1999, the educational institution obtained the University status that has been successfully confirmed three times in the course of the scheduled due diligences.
